Lifelong Learning

Adult Education

Jewish learning is lifelong. At Temple Anshe Hesed, we make it fun!! Past programs have included everything from current events to comic books, to bee-keeping and ancient civilizations. We offer something for everyone and programs are held at various times throughout the year. All this and refreshments are served, too! Programs are generally open to the public.

Book Club

We meet monthly and discuss a book that we choose ourselves. We have read both best sellers and more classic books and all promote a lively discussion. This group is open to all and the date and place of meeting change, depending on the needs of those attending. Contact us to get more information or to find out what we are reading this month.

Intro Into Judaism

Introduction to Judaism online is an engaging 21-session course offered in three consecutive trimesters for adults who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Jewish life through a Reform lens. This online course is designed for those who reside in areas where Introduction to Judaism in-person classes are not available. Live classes meet in real time through video-conferencing. Where available, we refer prospective participants to in-person Introduction to Judaism courses in local Reform communities.

Ten Minute Torah

Each weekday, more than 20,000 subscribers receive an email that brings the Jewish world to them. From Torah commentaries written by scholars to recipes for baking challah, Ten Minutes of Torah explores the great variety of Jewish life. Over the years, subscribers have studied the history of Jews in America, Mishnah, Jewish Ethics, and Hebrew. They’ve been inspired to delve more deeply into the weekly portion and prayer (t’filah). And they’ve renewed their connection with Israel by hearing from experts on the front line.

Library

Our Temple Library is true treasure for the Temple family and for the greater Erie Community. It includes books of Jewish content, books by Jewish authors, and a vast collection of books for young readers. Jewish scholars find the Library to be a great resource center. We also have a very impressive collection of Holocaust material.
